Protected Species Assessments

Protected Species Assessments

Our team has experience in identifying protected species and their signs, including nests, burrows, tracks, scat, and other indicators. We conduct thorough field surveys of appropriate habitats to identify plant and animal species that are protected under federal, state, and local regulations.

Some species of special concern in the region include:

  • Gopher Tortoise
  • Florida Panther
  • Red-Cockaded Woodpecker
  • Florida Bonneted Bat
  • Crested Caracara
  • Florida Scrub-Jay

We regularly perform preliminary listed species surveys as part of due diligence assessments and initial project planning. If a protected species is identified on-site, regulatory agencies may require additional species-specific surveys as part of the permitting process to document the species' use of the site in greater detail.

Along with the on-site survey, you will receive a detailed report that includes the following:

  • Florida Land Use, Cover, and Forms Classification System (FLUCCS) Map: This map provides a detailed overview of land use, land cover, and various land forms within the surveyed area.
  • Soils Map: A comprehensive map identifying the soil types and their characteristics across the site.
  • Protected Species Report: A list detailing whether any protected species are present on-site, in compliance with local and federal regulations. This package ensures a thorough understanding of the land's characteristics and any relevant environmental considerations.
